Local Drug
Information System

Untitled design (8).jpg

Summary

The QES Local Drug Information System (LDIS) has been designed to work either on its own, or in parallel to the Non-Fatal Overdose System, to support drug alerts and early indications of a concerning substance type. The key data collected includes visual depictions of the drug, such as colour, form, shape and any distinguishing markings/features. Alongside this, any information on how the drug was purchased, the adverse effects experienced and the ability to upload an image of the drug ties all detail in one centralised location to enhance decision making and issuing of alerts.

The system benefits from a publicly available drug intelligence form, enabling members of the public to self-report or do so on behalf of another person, as well as an area for organisations such as police, ambulance service, hostels and more to provide detail on what appears to be a drug of concern to the public. Features within the site such as Meeting Management, ensures the end-to-end decision making process can be recorded securely within the site enabling collaboration with key stakeholders. This area of the system provides ability to record appropriate detail on efficacy of alert, grading of information, decision to alert, and type of alert issued.

QES' LDIS solution includes an extensive document library to allow users to search and filter through any documents and images that have been uploaded into the system, including capability to search specifically by metatags that have been used to describe an image. This offers the opportunity to explore by specific features if there is concern of an emerging pattern in substance, i.e. multiple drug-related deaths or non-fatal overdoses involving a "blue" "circle" "pill".

This system autogenerates a full reporting dashboard displaying visual charts, graphs and tiles of the data that has been recorded, including but not limited to number of intelligence forms received, number of alerts issues, type of alert, method of administration, how drug was purchased and much more. The use of this system improves efficiencies in the coordination of collecting intelligence forms, collaborating on decision making and monitoring trends and emerging patterns in real-time all within a secure platform. Maximise learning even further through use of QES' Drug-related Death Surveillance System and Non-Fatal Overdose Surveillance System, in addition to the LDIS solution.
